Fire Wisdom~ Apryl Thatch

In Their Own Words
The words came to me before I could explain them.
I remember the moment clearly. We were surrounded by beauty and quiet. Removing my top. Then my bra. Feeling the air on my skin.
At the time, my body was changing. Hormones shifting. Weight settling in unfamiliar, unwanted places. I was learning to inhabit a version of myself I had not prepared for. So unexpected. There was grief in that.
I had been negotiating with mirrors. Trying to reconcile memory with my reflection.
But her camera did not negotiate. It witnessed.
And when I saw the photographs, I cried.
Because I saw strength without armor. I saw softness without apology. I saw a woman who had walked through fire. She glowed.
Fire Wisdom comes after something burns away. It is a boldness, born of heat. A declaration.
It is grace.
The grace to look at your body in wonder and amazement.
The grace to honor what the fire has shaped in you.
The grace to recognize what remains… is wisdom.
